Marco De Virgiliis has ever believed in neodymium speakers technology. This obstinate choice not 
only let him put on the market extremely light amplifiers, but all his investments on R&D brought 
today many different sound options using this material and design, allowing high wattages never 
reached before. Now the DV Mark cabinet lineup grew up dramatically, offering four different speaker 
choices. All these speakers are also available as a spare part to let the customers upgrade any 
12” speaker equipped cabinet on the market, covering any genre needs, from Jazz to Metal. 
  
This 12” speaker has been designed thinking about some classic amps of the past that became 
a big part of the sound of great bands like Queen, Rolling Stones, Shadows, U2, The Beatles 
and many others. Its tone is inspired to Alnico speakers with an emphasis on bass and middle 
frequencies, delivering a bright character on the high register as well.

A unique look and a strong, consistent sound: but why?

Following the natural laws of physics, in order to reach lower frequencies an increase of diameter of 
the string is needed, but this increase will make the sound quality get worse and worse because of the 
internal dampening of the string. This translates into a duller sound, less brightness and responsiveness, 
following this practical law: the thicker the string, the duller the sound.

Our revolutionary approach never introduced before us  changes the specific weight of each treble string 
in order to compensate this loss of acoustical properties. This way, the diameter variation among each 
string is considerably smaller, allowing the instrument to sound brighter, more powerful and more responsive 
through the entire range of the fretboard, especially over the 12th fret. The strings also keep a better 
intonation thanks to the reduced diameter variations. Until today, this result was reached only with harps, 
where the scale of the strings is continuously varied in order to limit the dampening issue.
